The Original Rider-Waite Tarot Pack—An indispensable addition to any tarot collection
The Original Rider-Waite Tarot Pack includes a Celtic Cross card-spread guide and an updated version of The Pictorial Key to the Tarot, written by Arthur Edward (A.E.) Waite, a renowned scholar of occultism and a leading member of the magical order known as the Order of the Golden Dawn. The book can be used in conjunction with any set of tarot cards, but it was written in particular to accompany the 78-card Rider Waite Tarot Deck, which was designed by Pamela Colman Smith in accordance with A.E. Waite’s instructions.
This new edition explains the history and symbolism of the cards and gives instructions on how to use them for purposes of divination. The Key to the Tarot also includes a thoughtful foreword by Liz Greene, who not only places tarot in a historical context, but also situates it in a broader context. She describes tarot as “a series of pictorial portrayals of the archetypal human life-journey.”
